Qianling
Mountain: A Paradise in the city
Qianling Mountain situated in Guiyang’s northwestern corner pro-vides
a vast comprehensive garden for the city Though lying on the edge of the
downtown area ,once you enter its hates, the busy atmosphere of city life
is left behind, and you will find yourself in a totally different world—high
mountains, deep valleys, peaceful waters and thick forests sheltering ancient
temples The park contains six scenic areas: Sanling Bay ; Qilin Cave; the
Zoo Qianling Lake; Twin Dams , and Hongfu Temple Tracing a path of steps
up the mountain, you can enjoy the fresh air and birdsong, enhanced by beautiful
wild flowers set in a world of green . You can also take a cable car at
the Lotus Pond to the top to the mountain for a panoramic view of Griyang
City. |
Qilin Cave, a limestone cave big enough to
house 100 people, was where the Kuomintang general Zhang Xueliang, was imprisoned
by Chiang Kai-shek during 1941-42, General Yang Hucheng, who initiated the
Xi’an Incident together with General Zhang, was also detained here for a
while before he and his family was killed by Chiang in 1949 . An exhibition
room displays articles used by the two generals
Qianling Lake is like a gem inlaid amidst blur of green mountains Blocked
by Twin Dams, it is a 20-hectare water body dotted with pleasure boars and
reflections of the surrounding walkways, pavilions and weeping willows. |

Hongfu Temple is a 300-year-old famous Buddhist
spot, where pilgrims come from home and abroad to worship Buddha, the Goddess
of mercy, Manjusri and other Bodhisattvas Among the cultural relics housed
in Hongfu Temple is a bell cast in 1469 Weighing 15.000 kilograms ,it is
the largest of its kind in Guizhou province. |
